Welcome to the first month of 2022, Taurus! You are one of the most leisurely signs of the zodiac, darling, and hopefully, you spent New Year's Eve with friends and New Year's Day relaxing with delicious snacks, your pet, and favorite TV shows. Your ruling planet, Venus, is retrograde when the year begins. Venus rules love, abundance, and beauty. While Venus is retrograde, life may feel a bit stagnant, Taurus. It's harder to talk about matters in love, and you may feel annoyed at your partner for no reason. If you're single, dating feels like nothing but an annoyance. The planet will go direct later this month, but don't push yourself for now regarding love. Give in to your lazier tendencies and relax.

Sunday, January 2, brings a new moon in ambitious Capricorn. New moons, which turn the sky black, represent a fresh slate. It's a time for intention-setting and new beginnings. Because this one occurs in hardworking Capricorn, you find yourself rethinking your professional values. For instance, you may have a 9 to 5 job that pays the bills but leaves you feeling creatively stagnant. Or, you may be a freelancer looking for something more steady. The first step to creating change is identifying the problem. Then, write down what you want and prepare to work for it.  

Sometimes the best action you can take is to wait.  

The first Mercury retrograde of 2022 begins on Friday, January 14, and goes through Thursday, February 3. As a reminder, during Mercury retrograde, you can expect communication mishaps, travel delays, and surprise texts from exes. Your mind is on your money these days, Taurus. To avoid any professional problems, make sure to double-check any work emails. Also, try to refrain from signing important documents. If you get a contract for a new job offer, triple-check the fine print before signing anything.

There's a bright full moon in caring Cancer on Monday, January 17, turning your attention to your home life. In particular, you feel frustrated by communication issues. Maybe you're having a hard time lining up a date, or you and your partner can't seem to get on the same page. Sometimes, when things aren't clicking, and especially when Mercury retrograde, it's best just to let it be. Full moons can also stir up drama, so this isn't the best day to pick a fight with someone you care about, anyways. Practice mindfulness to root yourself in the present and trust that everything will work out in time. Sometimes the best action you can take is to wait.

The rebellious planet Uranus goes direct on Tuesday, January 18. It's been retrograde since Thursday, August 19, 2021. While Uranus is retrograde, you're more likely to step outside your comfort zone. This can mean hanging with new social circles or even reading new authors. When the planet goes direct, your task is to implement changes based on what you learned instead of falling back into bad habits. So use all of your strong Taurus power to refuse getting back in bed with an ex or returning to toxic friendships. 

Free-thinking Aquarius season begins on Wednesday, January 19. Aquarius is the humanitarian of the zodiac. You like to be warm and comfy, Taurus. You can't help it; you're ruled by the goddess Venus. But when Aquarius season begins, you're motivated to get out of the house and involve yourself in something bigger than yourself, such as volunteering at local garden or food pantry. Don't feel like getting dirty? Simply make an effort to shop from inclusive beauty brands. Small gestures are always appreciated during Aquarius season.
