Accredited Houston cosmetic dentist Guy Lewis, DDS says no-prep veneers provide quicker aesthetic results to conceal teeth that are discolored, chipped, cracked, slightly misshapen or separated by gaps. He designed “No-Prep G. Lewis Veneers” to provide makeover options that do not require reduction of the natural tooth, which has a myriad of benefits for those who are nervous about the process associated with traditional veneers.

The Advantages

Dr. Lewis says there are several benefits to choosing his no-prep veneers. “Firstly, anesthesia is usually not required,” he explains. “We’re able to preserve the natural tooth structure and the porcelain is ultra-thin. This reduces the likelihood of gum problems associated with other bulky no-prep veneers. Should you ever decide to remove them, your teeth will look exactly like they did before.”

Both traditional veneers and “No-Prep G. Lewis Veneers” can be completed in just two visits and are designed for durability and a superior aesthetic result. “I recommend my ‘No-Prep G. Who Is the Best Candidate?

Although Dr. Lewis recommends his no-prep option when possible, they may not be appropriate for everyone: “If you have misaligned teeth or naturally large or bulky teeth, it may not be possible to treat you with no-prep veneers. Some trimming and preparation would be required to make your smile look its best,” he says. “If there are dark stains on the teeth, the thin porcelain may not adequately conceal the discoloration completely.”

Taking Care of Your Veneers

“Caring for no-prep veneers is just as easy as caring for traditional veneers. You can brush them just like natural teeth. You should brush at least twice a day and floss at least once a day. Although your veneers won’t decay, your natural teeth still can, so you need to maintain good oral hygiene to keep your smile looking its best. They may collect stains over time; therefore, I recommend that patients periodically whiten to return them to their original shade,” he says. “They are designed to fit comfortably and do not add excess bulk to the teeth which also reduces the likelihood of gum problems associated with bulky veneers.”
