TikTok’s ‘Marilyn’ Jasmine Chiswell Launches Old Hollywood ColourPop Collection

If you’ve spent a significant amount of time scrolling through TikTok’s beauty community you’re probably already familiar with Jasmine Chiswell, the Marilyn Monroe lookalike that lives and breathes Old Hollywood glam. She’s so committed to her throwback aesthetic, she even lives in one of Monroe’s former homes and uses it as a backdrop for her vintage-meets-modern viral videos.

It only made sense for the 28-year-old influencer and new mom to team up with ColourPop for a collection of pressed powder palettes, lip kits, and glosses that would make any starlet swoon. Here, she takes a minute with NewBeauty to talk about her Marilyn inspo, how she gets that perfect hair each day, and what went into her gorgeous new line of classic makeup must-haves.

Chiswell has amassed over 15 million followers for her uncanny resemblance to Monroe.

You’re originally from Glasgow, Scotland, but your commitment to Old Hollywood glamour is unmatched. When did you start to gravitate toward the vintage look?

“Since I was young, I’ve always been drawn to the Old Hollywood glam aesthetic. It was such an influential time for fashion and beauty, and I’ve really built my identity around it more recently. Because of that, I really wanted to create a beauty line that has everything you need to create the perfect look for that time period.”

What was important to you to include in your new ColourPop line? What were some “must-haves?”

“It was really important to me to have that bright-red, signifying lip in the collection. I always love a bright, vibrant lip for any look, so the lip kits were definitely a must!”

Is there one product from the line that everyone must try?

“Oh, it’s so hard to choose just one product that everyone must have! I really love each product in the line. Each exudes Old Hollywood glam in their own unique way, from the eyeshadow palettes ($12) to the lip kits ($16).”

What initially drew you to Marilyn Monroe?

“I’ve always loved Marilyn Monroe since I was young. She had amazing style and confidence, and it was something I really looked and continue to look up to. In general, the 50s are so special to me and I’m so happy I was able to create a collection with ColourPop ($88 for the full set) to bring that glamour and feel to everyone.”

What is your secret to getting that Marilyn hairdo perfect every time?

“I really just tried everything. I watched a lot of YouTube videos to see how they would do their hair and none of them actually worked for me. So, I actually found this old 1950s and 1940s pin curling guide. I read through it, and I worked very hard to try and do it with my hair. And I finally found something that worked for me! Now, I just pin curl my hair, where I roll it up and use some bobby pins and pin it into place. It takes 15 minutes to put in the bobby pins at night. I leave them on overnight, and then it takes another 15 minutes to take the pins out and finalize the style in the morning. But yes, a lot of hairspray and no heat.”

What makeup tips or tricks have you acquired from your research of famous Hollywood starlets?

“Something I recently shared as one of my favorite lip-plumping hacks is to over line your upper lip around your cupid’s bow, but thin out the line once it reaches the ends of your lips. Then, you fill the lips in with your lipstick, and finish the look by popping a little bit of gloss right in the middle of your lips for more definition. For this trick, I use the Old Flame Lipstick Kit ($16) from my ColourPop collection, since it includes a liner and lipstick in my favorite Hollywood-inspired red shade. I top it off with the Glamour Shot Lux Gloss ($10) from the collection.”

You live in one of Marilyn’s former homes. What part of the house is your favorite?

“We love living in a big, open space with lots of natural light. Another part of the house I love and use all the time is my beauty room! I love having this gorgeous space to get glam, and I always use it when creating content!”
