This Shadow Liner Creates a Bold Magenta Eye That’s Unlike Anything Else

When French-born, Brooklyn-based makeup artist Violette came on the scene with her playful mix and match style, the beauty community took notice. During the rise of the Instagram influencer, she was (and is) considered an arbiter of what’s trending in color. She currently serves as creative director of Guerlain and had a former appointment with Estée Lauder, however it’s her own vegan brand Violette_FR, that brings wearers into the modern age by blending, mixing and creating fresh, bold eye looks.

One of Violette_FR’s two new Yeux Paint shadow-liner shades, Rêve de Dahlia ($31)—which translates into Dahlia’s Dream—is a holy grail metallic that instantly enhances hazel, green and light brown eyes. Described as “dark magenta, deep fuchsia and vivid orchid,” this recently launched shade is a highly charged dose of color. The paint on “Twinkling” pigment serves as a bright metallic liner or a swipe-on paint. No base or brush are needed to get a full-coverage look and a high color payoff.

The Benefits:

Yeux Paint’s thin tipped doe foot applicator allows you to place the formula on your lid in a targeted way. The versatility of being able to switch from a shadow to a liner make it a multitasker. The highly pigmented hues are unlike any other shadows I’ve ever tried and never crease or budge throughout the day. If you have blue eyes, the Bleu de Minuit or Scarabée d’Or are a must try to elevate your color.

How to Use it:

Apply a few dabs to your upper lids and blend with your fingertips for a more diffused look. Violette calls this the drop technique. To trace a design or specific shapes, use the applicator like a liquid liner brush. Because the formulas are designed to play well together (no matter the finish), the Twinkling and Matte shades can be used together for added dimension.

This metallic bright magenta liquid eyeshadow makes giving myself a modern take on a classic eye super simple. A few swipes followed by a blend using just my fingertips is all I need to get definition and a hue that brings out the golden flecks in my green eyes.
