This Is What Breast Implants Look Like in All Sizes

For most people, the decision to undergo breast augmentation is one that requires thorough research and planning. Perhaps you’ve known for a long time that you want larger breasts with the help of breast implants, but you aren’t sure which size will suit you best. Or, you’re worried the results won’t look natural. That’s where the guidance of a board-certified plastic surgeon comes into play. There are several tools in a surgeon’s toolbox for selecting the proper size for a patient based on their goals.

“During a consultation, patients can determine a size by using external sizers to give the surgeon an idea what type of volume they are considering,” says  Vancouver, WA plastic surgeon Allen Gabriel, MD. “There is constant dialogue between the patient and surgeon during sizing to better understand goals and desires. Sometimes during this process, it is really helpful to have ‘wish pics’ to see if the surgeon and patient are on the same page.

Once external sizing is completed, a 3-D simulation device can be used to show the desired range of implant sizes that patient has chosen. This is only done after the surgeon has done the appropriate measurements to be able to custom-fit the implant for the chest. This is how the projection of the implant is determined. The 3-D simulation tool is used only for the consultation process and not to guarantee the results. It helps bring the results to reality and allows for the patient and surgeon to have a clear discussion of what may be possible for realistic expectations.”

Here are several breast augmentation cases showing before-and-after images of different implant sizes ranging from 270-ccs to 485-ccs (implants are not measured in cup sizes). The higher the number of ccs, the larger the implant is.

New York plastic surgeon Daniel Y. Maman, MD performed a breast augmentation on this patient using 270-cc moderate-profile, silicone implants. He placed them in a dual-plane implant position through an incision made in the breast crease.

This patient wore a 32A bra and wanted to increase her breast size. New York plastic surgeon B. Aviva Preminger, MD performed breast augmentation using a 286-cc implant in the right breast and a 265-cc implant in the left breast. Both were smooth, round, silicone implants placed via inframammary incisions (scars hidden under the breast fold), beneath the pectoralis muscle. This provided better implant coverage and a more natural appearance.
