This Color Corrector Is Like Coffee for Your Skin

Let’s be honest: we’ve all had those days where we try to cover up a sleepless night with some makeup but end up looking over concealed and under rested. Sometimes we all need a little help getting our faces woken up, but it’s hard to find a product that  brightens and conceals under-eye bags and highlights areas of the face in a way that does look artificial. Luckily, after years of experimenting with different concealers and brighteners that claim to make you look more awake but only made me look flakey and cakey, I came across the Rodial Banana Lowlighter ($45), which has been so effective at awakening my skin in such a natural way that it’s truly like a cup of coffee in a bottle. 

The Benefits:

Rodial’s Banana Lowlighter promises a “lit-from-within-glow,” and that’s exactly what this product delivers. One of my biggest pet peeves is when a face makeup product looks like makeup. I know, that sounds contradictory, but I only like to wear face products that look as natural as possible and that’s why I love this color corrector. The yellow undertone in the product’s formula helps the application to be super natural and has been a life-saver for evening out my naturally uneven skin tone. I also appreciate that this product is shimmer-free but still ultra-radiant since it really completes that no-makeup makeup look I love so much. 

Key Ingredients: 

When I say this product is like coffee for your skin, I mean it literally. Caffeine is one of the key components in Rodial’s Banana Lowlighter since the ingredient is known to reduce puffiness around the eye area. Always maintaining a commitment to healthy skin, hyaluronic acid is another main player in this formula that helps retain moisture and naturally plump the look of the skin. Vitamin E also helps to moisturize and soothe the under-eyes. 

How to Use: 

Utilizing the wonderful doe-foot applicator, dab some of the product under the eyes and pat into the skin with a brush, makeup sponge or your fingers for an especially natural application. To lightly illuminate and and draw light to the high points of the face, apply a few more dabs of product to the cheekbones, temples and bridge of the nose. 

The Bottom Line: 

With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we all need a little extra help getting ourselves up and at ‘em every now and then. Since discovering this product, it has become a part of my morning routine. First, a cup of coffee for my brain and then this coffee-in-a-bottle product for my skin and I’m ready to face the day.
