This Celeb-Favorite ‘Smart Beauty’ Brand Just Launched Its First Skin-Care Product

From the first day we discovered Merit Beauty’s minimalistic and effective “smart beauty” products, we’ve been huge fans. The brainchild of Katherine Power, cofounder of Who What Wear and the founder of Versed, one of our favorite drugstore skin-care brands, Merit has quickly become a staple for those seeking a sophisticated, no nonsense approach to makeup. Now, the brand brings that same philosophy to skin with its new Great Skin Instant Glow Serum ($38), which hydrates, calms and brightens for smoother, glowier skin. 

A celeb favorite for a clean, simple and effective approach, Cameron Diaz, Mandy Moore, Jenna Dewan and Whitney Port have all sang Merit’s praises, with Bethenny Frankel recently adding to the accolades by declaring the whole line of sleekly packaged, portable makeup solutions a 9.5 out of 10. Knowing that half the battle of a beautiful, dewy look is the glow underneath, its no surprise that the latest addition to the standout lineup of skin-loving lip oils and color balms is this non irritating all-in-one serum.

Deconstructing the skin-care steps down to the basics, Powers and team spent five years (going back more than 50 times to perfect it) developing the lightweight serum. They called on celebrity esthetician Bibi de Sousa to ensure that Great Skin remains as as clean and effective as their makeup. De Sousa, known for working with clients such as Hailey Beiber and Billie Ellish, enforced her ‘No List’ of 73 ‘clean’ but potentially acne-triggering ingredients to deliver a skin-perfecting solution that won’t cause breakouts. With four types of hyaluronic acid, 2% niacinamide, cacao seed extract and Japanese goldthread root, it’s perfect for those with mature, dry and combination skin for a daily “lit from within” look.
