The One Moisturizer Zooey Deschanel Uses ‘No Matter What’

In a recent article for CNN, Zooey Deschanel dishes on her go-to beauty products, from her daily serum to her iconic red lipstick.

Starting with skin care, Deschanel uses a bakuchiol-filled serum, the Herbivore Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Serum ($54). “I use bakuchiol, which is like a retinol alternative,” she says. “I have really sensitive skin and I can’t use retinol. It just dries it out.” To add a punch of moisture back into her face, Eminence Organic Skin Care Clear Skin Probiotic Moisturizer ($59) is her daily savior. “I love Eminence Probiotic Moisturizer,” she tells CNN. “That’s one product I can always use no matter what. Sometimes if I’m tired or something else, I start breaking out, and then I have to stop using all other moisturizers. That’s the only one that will not break [my] skin out at all.”

For makeup, Deschanel loves a pop of red, so blush and lipstick are on a constant rotation. To achieve her rosy cheeks, she loves the Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Stick ($48), the Westman Atelier Lip Suede ($85) and Merit Flush Balm ($28). “Merit is fantastic and has all kinds of everything. [The Flush Balm is] kind of small and you can just screw the top up and just put your cheek color on. They’re great cheek crayons.”

And, when it comes down to her iconic red lip, she thanks Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom ($42), a vibrant, deep red with a high-shine finish. If she wants a pop of color on her lids before she heads out the door she’ll swipe on Makeup by Mario Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette ($48). “This is an essential! There is every neutral color in one palette.”
