The Best Celebrity Skin Secrets From Tonight’s Met Gala

The 2022 Met Gala kicked off with a Gilded Age theme that pays tribute to the glamour and opulence of the period of economic boom of the 19th century. To prep for the first Monday in May, celebs started early with facials, LED masks and sometimes multiple back-to-back treatment to get their glow on.

To get the Queen of New York ready for her annual Met Gala debut, makeup artist Elaine Offers Woulard began the process using Pat McGrath Labs new Divine Skin Rose 001 Essence, which is launching soon. SJP, 57, walked the red carpet with a full-face of the brand’s skin perfecting makeup, including the Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation ($48) and Pat McGrath Labs X Bridgerton Blushing Delights ($60).

“Fresh from my @111skin facial and feeling gooooooood,” shared Union on social media. The actress, 49, looked baby-fresh ahead of night’s festivities with a 111SKIN facial that gave her that dewy glow we’ve come to expect from her red carpet appearances.

The reality star, 43, got ready for her first Met Gala appearance with celebrity aesthetician Joanna Czech, who is a go-to stop for many celebs on awards and special event nights. “Facials with @joannaczechofficial make me happy,” shared the star.

Australian actress Olivia DeJonge, 24, who stars as the lead in the new “Elvis” biopic, got ready for the red carpet with celebrity makeup artist, Matin Maulawizada who used CurrentBody Skin’s LED Mask ($399) along with the CurrentBody Skin Neck & Dec Perfector ($469) for a double duty of light-therapy ahead of the night. “I like relying on skin and enhancing skin with make-up rather than putting a thick mask of foundation and recreate glow or contours on the face so CurrentBody mask is one of the tools I always use on my repeat clients,” said Matin. “I used CurrentBody on Olivia prior to starting her skin care and make up. She has been using the mask for a few weeks already and today we used it again to keep up with her pre skin care routine.”

Makeup artist Moani Lee used 111SKIN to prep the country star’s skin using the brand’s powerhouse Y Theorem Repair Serum NAC Y2 ($350), as well as the Sub-Zero De-Puffing Eye Duo ($130). “To me, The Gilded Age/Gilded Glamour was all about opulence and I find that the richer the skin, the more luxurious the beauty look. I’m a big fan of gorgeous skin all around so I was thrilled to have the chance to really play that up and what better way than with my favorite moisture-rich products from 111SKIN,” Moani said.

Another Joanna Czech devotee, the Pam & Tommy star, 33, was treated by Czech with the Zimmer Cryotherapy device along with Cle De Peau Beaute’s Brightening Mask ($160) for an added layer brightness to get that “lit from within” glow.

The 42-year-old comedic superstar got her LED light therapy on and made sure her celebrity aesthetician Joanna Vargas approved. “@joannavargasnyc am I doing this right,” she wrote on her Instagram story.

Celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan got the 20-year-old influencer ready with a two-part prep that included a facial treatment with the Solawave LED red light therapy tool and CeraVe skin care. “Since Emma will be on the carpet and in the sun all afternoon, I wanted to choose a moisturizer with an SPF for the additional protection. The CeraVe Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen has a matte finish, so it’s perfect for under makeup. For Harlow’s first Met Gala, makeup artist Fitch Lunar gave the 24-year-old the red carpet treatment with a brand new state-of-art face perfecting tool and a three-step approach to G-L-A-M-O-U-R-O-U-S smooth skin. “I asked Jack to come in bare face and product free. I began the session with my new TheraFace PRO ($399) using the cleansing attachment, then moved into LED and percussive therapy to relax any facial tension,” Lunar said. “I then used Murad’s Correct & Protect Serum with SPF ($69), preventing the skin from dryness, and adding protection throughout his day. Once absorbed I added Targeted Wrinkle Corrector($78) to select areas and applied the Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Masks ($42) to visibility firm the under eyes. I allowed this to set for 15 minutes.”
