Selena Gomez Shows Off Her Natural Beauty in Makeup-Free Selfie

Between her extensive singing career and more recent endeavors like Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, Selena Gomez is inarguably an icon of the 21st century. Most recently, Gomez made waves with the release of her now viral makeup line, Rare Beauty, through which the star not only created a line of stunning makeup products, but also furthered her advocacy for mental health awareness and acceptance of everyone’s individual, rare beauty. This evening, Gomez furthered her open-book relationship with fans through a series of stunning, makeup-free selfies where she shows off her real self.

Dressed in two different but equally cozy-looking sweatshirts, Gomez posted three selfies to her Instagram with the simple but impactful caption, “Me.” In all three photos, the star shows off her radiant, makeup-free complexion as well as her naturally wavy hair. In the age of social media it’s easy to get caught up in filtered photos and edited images, but Gomez’s bare and effortlessly beautiful snaps emphasis her personal and professional mission of empowering followers to be their true selves.

Coming off the release of her candid documentary, My Mind & Me, Gomez’s truthful nature is more at the forefront than ever. The emotional and incredibly important documentary details the star’s struggles with anxiety, depression and her recent bipolar diagnosis while also fighting through the physical stresses of Lupus. Gomez’s beauty brand launched a mere month before the release of the documentary, and the two projects come together to emphasize both her commitment to mental health awareness and her dedication to never letting stardom distract from being herself.
