If you don't follow Gabrielle Union on Instagram, now is your time to do so. Not only is she serving some trendy hairstyles and fashionista moments on the 'gram, but she's also sharing also heart-wrenching (and sometimes hilarious) photos of her daughter, Kaavia. From glamorous red carpet gowns — most recently a neon-green dress paired with a bun bigger than Lizzo's at the Harry Styles concert — the actor knows how to turn heads. Speaking of which: on Tuesday, December 7, Union posted a video to her Instagram where she debuted another iconic hairstyle in ode to the character Tootie from The Facts of Life, a television series that aired throughout the 1980s. 

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the light-hearted series, Union sums up the impact Tootie Ramsey had on her as a child. "Tonight I have a once in a lifetime opportunity to honor the QUEEN @kimfieldsofficial and her iconic role of Tootie on "Facts Of Life" As a Black girls growing up in the 1980s we had very few role models on TV and film, but we had Kim. Thank you for leading and showing us how amazing we actually are. Please show love and praise to the ICON KIM FIELDS," Union writes as the caption to her post.

Giving credit where credit's due, Union shouted out the original actor who played Tootie as she starred in a live performance alongside Kerry Washington, Kevin Hart, and many more on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! that highlighted sitcoms from the ‘80s era. Speaking of the 1980s, Union's thick bowl cut was the first thing that caught my attention (alongside the braces) as she really stepped into full character. Pairing her new hairstyle (I have full faith in this being a wig, of course), Union doesn't miss a beat, wearing a glossy lip and cheekbones covered in pink blush.

While it might not be a hairstyle we'll see soon on the runway (or will it?), one thing is for certain: Gabrielle Union did not miss a single detail while emulating her childhood icon, Tootie. I'm sure this isn't the last time we'll see the actor reminiscing on another show that impacted her life. My only question is: who's next?
