If there's any celebrity we can count on to switch things up in the hairstyle department with some regularity, it's Kerry Washington. The acclaimed actor loves to switch it up — and we love to follow that journey. It has included braids with rainbow threads, a sleek bob, and most recently, short yet voluminous curls — but not nearly as short as the look she sported on Instagram in the spirit of both Black History Month and the Olympics.

Washington posted a carousel of photos to her Instagram grid in which she changed up her hair dramatically to resemble decorated athlete Wilma Rudolph. In the first photo and last boomerang of the post, Washington is seen wearing what may very well be her shortest hairstyle ever: a retro, tousled pixie cut that looks just like Rudolph's. And with the new look, we get an awesome history lesson.
