Kelsea Ballerini Did Her Own Hair and Makeup For Tonight’s CMT Awards

Kelsea Ballerini was eager to host tonight’s CMT Awards, but COVID had other plans. “I am gutted,” the star shared in a video posted to Instagram earlier today. “A couple of days ago I tested positive for COVID and the CMT Awards are tonight, so unfortunately I cannot be there in person anymore,” she shared, explaining she would still be hosting, but from her very own living room. “Let’s make lemonade together out of these very bitter lemons.”

And make the most of it she did. Cut to a few short hours later, Ballerini—she’s nominated for three CMT Awards tonight—posted from her very own step and repeat, complete with a piece of the CMT Awards’ pink carpet, in her Nashville driveway in full glam. As only a true CoverGirl would, Ballerini stepped in as her own hair and makeup team for tonight’s show.

“YOU GUYS!!!! Kelsea did her own glam,” shared Ballerini’s longtime hair and makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan proudly. “I’m thinking I’m out of a job because this looks too good.” In the following slide, Deenihan shared a clip of a FaceTime call between her and Ballerini, walking the star through her various glam looks. “Ok she may have had a little guidance but really the girl doesn’t need it. She’s a secret makeup artist.”

“Luckily Kelsea is VERY good at her own hair and makeup (She usually does all her own tour glam) so I trusted that whatever she would do would turn out beautifully,” Deenihan continued. “But let’s be honest half the fun of glam is the hang time and collaborating on the looks, so we still wanted to get ready together. FACETIME glam for the win!”
