It's only December, but already celebrities are serving up plenty of hyper-trendy hair looks that could inspire us commonfolk to commit to our own makeovers for the new year. Case in point: Jennifer Lawrence, who seems to be pulling off two of 2022's biggest hair color trends at once. The actor debuted a glorious, golden blonde shade while appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in New York City on December 6. 

Sandy blonde and playground highlights are the two trends in question that Lawrence seems to be wearing simultaneously. Felicia Dosso, a colorist based in New York, previously told Allure that sandy blonde is expected to be big in the coming year. Basically, sandy blonde is in that sweet spot between platinum and bronde. "It feels darker and more dimensional than a super bright blonde, but it's also easy to go back to that super bright when you're ready," she said. 

Meanwhile, Beverly Hills-based colorist and hairstylist Cherin Choi is calling playground highlights to be one of the biggest hair color trends for next year. It's not every day that one uses the word playground when referring to hair highlights, but, as Choi explained, this technique refers to the color that your childhood hair turned into after a day's worth of playing out in the sun. Ultimately, the goal with this hair color trend "is to just go lighter." Even if you're not a brunette/blonde like Lawrence, Choi says that any hair color can pull off this trend.

Lawrence's playground highlights and sandy blonde hair weren't the only things that she debuted on her Late Show appearance: This was one of the first times we've seen the actor out and about since she became pregnant. The mid-length dress with black and white polka dots only adds to the vintage-y feel of her golden blonde waves. Great to see you again, J.Law.
