Here’s Why the TikTok-Famous Valentino Eyeliner Is Worth the Hype

No, it’s not revolutionary—the double-duty liner game has been played several times before—but the Valentino Beauty Twin Liner Eyeliner is special. And if you follow beauty TikTokers Rose Siard (@roseandben) and Mikayla Nogueria, you know they think so too: When the two makeup gurus sang its praises on TikTok, a frenzy ensued and the liner sold out, and it’s been sold out ever since. These are my honest thoughts after taking it for a test-drive.

The Benefits:

Rose Siard calls it “the best liquid liner on the market,” and that’s a hefty compliment. Now I’m no eyeliner connoisseur, but I know what works and what doesn’t, and after more than a decade as an editor, I have high standards. This double-ended makeup maestro works, and really well. One end contains a semi-matte liquid and the other houses a gel pencil, and both have a 16-hour-wear claim that I can back up after several days of testing.

Each of the four shade duos comes with the super-black liquid liner and a colored gel pencil, either blue, brown (Marrone), black (Nero) or red (Rosso)—I’ve only used the black on black combo. You can use the liquid to create everything from a simple wing to a graphic design worthy of the catwalk, and the impressive quality that makes stand out from others I’ve used is its precision—it goes on so smooth and precise. And from what I’ve heard from makeup artists who are loving it, the tip stays sharp, even after many, many uses. The pencil is nice too, as it glides on easily and doesn’t run or smudge, and it makes the perfect liner for a sultry smoky eye.

How to Use It:

I’m more of a vanilla eyeliner user (and I don’t even wear it every day) with a swipe across my top lash line and a tiny extension past my outer corner, but there are so many ways you can play with this duo. For “a signature look,” as Valentino calls it, apply the liquid liner along your top lash line first, extending straight past the outer corners, and then apply the gel liner in a different color alongside it to create a “double twin line.”

And for those who are a little more confident with liner and want to create more of a statement, Valentino recommends applying both the liquid and gel liner side by side in your crease. The precision tip also allows you to more easily draw a dramatic, oversized wing, which would make quite a fun statement as well.
