I've been around long enough to confidently tell you that you will reach a point in your life when you look back on at least one of your non-childhood hairstyles and feel a special blend of regret and amusement. (For me, it's the early-2000s baby bangs. Hoooo boy.) If you haven't reached that point yet, you may feel a certain misplaced freedom to mock your elders' former hair looks — especially celebrities with decades of very publicly documented 'dos. But as one Twitter user found out, Halle Berry is ready to defend her styling choices of yesteryear.

On Tuesday, April 5, Twitter user Xay Yarbroux posted a photo of Berry taken at an event in Las Vegas in 1998. Now, even if you aren't a Halle Berry historian, you probably know that the ‘90s were an amazing time for her hair, and among her many trend-setting looks was what we now call the bixie — a style that incorporates elements of a bob and a pixie and can take on several vibes, whether that's cool grunge girl or manager-on-speed-dial diva. According to Yarbroux’s now-viral tweet, "Halle looks like she about to sing 'a single mom who works too hard, who loves her kids and never stops.'"

And you know what? Yes. Halle Berry's hair does look suspiciously like Reba McEntire's around the turn of the century, with its auburn hue, impressive volume, and shaggy, flipped-out layers. It's a style that didn't exactly get filed in the "definitely revive this look in a few decades" cabinet. But she still had a perfect response. The next day, Berry quote-tweeted the dig and replied, "… and what about it?
