Delilah Hamlin on the Perfect Nude Lip and The Best Beauty Lesson Lisa Rinna Taught Her

Much like her life, Lisa Rinna’s beauty brand is a family affair. The television personality, founder of Rinna Beauty and mother of two is a proud mom in every sense of the word, and her latest business collaborations are proof.

Previously partnering with her daughter Amelia Gray Hamlin to create the Amelia Lip Kit, Rinna is now joining forces with her youngest, 24-year-old Delilah Belle Hamlin for her very own kit, the Delilah Lip Kit ($49), inspired by her constant search for the perfect nude.

We chatted with Hamlin on working with her mom, what makes this Kit special and the skin-care saviors she swears by.

What makes this Lip Kit unique to you?

“I wanted to do something that was super personal to me. I’ve always been one to stick with the same lip color. Every time I got my hair and makeup done, I would always ask the makeup artists, ‘Hey, can we take this lip off and kind of find a better nude?’ And I was always playing around with different lip-color combos just to get that perfect color combination. And I finally found what I liked after years of working with makeup artists and I thought to myself, ‘Well, I can’t take their their makeup from their kit,’ so I thought it would be perfect for me to make my own Lip Kit with the perfect shades that I could just keep in my purse after I get my hair and makeup done and keep reapplying all night.

That was one thing that I definitely struggled with after getting hair and makeup done for events; I always struggled with my lipstick coming off throughout the night and then I would never have anything to put on. So now I have my own Lip Kit that I can just pop in my bag and take with me everywhere I go. Also, for the longest time, people were commenting on photos and videos asking what my lip color combination was and I was never really able to tell them because I never I never knew exactly what it was because it was always different. So now I’m able to be like, ‘Oh, it’s my Lip Kit!'”

How was it working with your mom?

“It was super easy. I had so much creative control, full free rein, which was awesome. And then shooting with her was really fun. She’s so fun on set. She just has such a young energy and she has so much of it that it was just such a fun photoshoot. It was a 12 hour shoot and she kept us all going. I loved working with her so much.

Just knowing how she came up with Rinna Beauty and seeing it in the works for so long and now seeing it flourish, and then actually being able to collaborate with her and have my own Kit—it’s pretty cool.”

What is the biggest beauty lesson you’ve learned from her?

“My mom has always told me to do whatever makes me feel good. She’s very spontaneous with with her wigs and her makeup and she doesn’t really care if anyone judges her. That’s something she always told my sister and I: Just do what you want and don’t care what other people think.”

 Greg Swales What’s a self-care ritual you never skip?

“I think self care is so important for your mental health. I always wash my face, morning and night. I think my Epsom salt baths are essential. I love, love, love a good face mask. It just makes me feel like I’m taking care of myself. I love the brand Biologique Recherche and Dr. Barbara Sturm. Those brands, plus EltaMD sunscreen, are really the only brands I use.

I don’t know if this is public knowledge yet, but my mom is coming out with a special lip product. I’m not going to give too much too much detail, but that’s something that I have been using every day to moisturize my lips.

I think skin care is really important. I love having great skin to the point where I don’t need to wear makeup, and maybe the only makeup that I wear is a lip gloss. I feel like that is so empowering, to look in the mirror and be proud of your skin, and then just pop on the Lip Kit and go.”
