Billie Eilish has proven herself to be a total chameleon when it comes to her hair. So far, she's ticked off a grungey slime-green root-pop, she's channeled Marilyn Monroe with old-Hollywood blonde waves, she's given us a rich shade of brunette, she's tried baby bangs and jet-black hair, she paid homage to her mom with a shaggy bob, and she dabbled as a redhead for a hot minute.

Eilish can effortlessly trade personas from rebellious to prim and back again without breaking a sweat, and we love to see it. After channeling her inner emo kid throughout her recent world tour dates, Eilish has switched gears once again to surprise everyone with a whole new vibe while gracing this year's Oscars red carpet. 

The singer paired her ultra-ruffled, floor-length, jet-black gown with a matching jet-black flicked bob and full-sweeping fringe. The retro reference is nothing new for Eilish, who's managed to find inspiration everywhere – from Holiday Barbie to throwback family pics.

Hairstylist Tom Smith previously told Glamour UK that off-black is an on-trend hair color to have on your radar, noting that Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, and Megan Fox are currently all rocking the shades. He explained that jet-black is "extremely absorbent of light and can look very solid," but this dainty hairstyle contrasts the deep color and gives it a fresh twist.

To recreate the '60s curled ends, blow-dry hair with a round barrel brush, rolling the ends back on themselves. Then, to intensify, use your straightener to lock the flick into place.

It's not the first time we've seen a hair flick trend, the flicked Barbie ponytail is set to be one of the biggest hairstyles this summer, and it follows that the flicked bob will take off, offering a cute update on the classic bob.
