17 Beauty Brands Showing Support for Ukraine

People all over the world, feeling helpless, have tried to find productive, thoughtful ways to support Ukraine as Russia continues to attack. From Polish mothers leaving strollers at the border for fleeing families to people all over the world booking Ukrainian stays on Airbnb as a way to send citizens money, everyone is doing their best. Some of your favorite beauty brands have also stepped up to assist Ukraine in its time of need and show Ukrainians their support through various initiatives, including shuttering operations in Russia and donating money.

L’Oréal Groupe

One of the biggest beauty conglomerates in the world, which owns dozens of brands, has one of the most expansive initiatives to support Ukraine. The company published an in-depth explanation of its efforts. L’Oréal is supporting its 326 Ukrainian employees with financial and psychological assistance and meeting them at the border, when they’re able to cross, with accommodations, medical and legal support as well.

L’Oréal is working with local and international non-governmental organizations, including the Red Cross, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and UNICEF through donations of up to 5 million euros. The company has already distributed 250,000 hygiene products and will continue doing so. L’Oréal has also shut down operations in Russia.

Estée Lauder Companies

Another giant company, which owns 26 beauty brands from Clinique to La Mer, has provided sustainable aid. Estée Lauder Companies continue to compensate Ukrainian employees and are taking steps to support their safety. The Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation has committed $1 million in support of relief efforts in Ukraine, and the company will be donating products to those displaced. The brand has also suspended operations in Russia.

Unilever

The parent company of staples like Dove and Axe is focused on ensuring Ukrainian employees’ safety, assisting with evacuation as needed and providing additional financial support. The company has committed to donating 5 million euros of essential Unilever products to the humanitarian relief effort. Unilever has halted imports and exports in Russia.

This skin-care brand is donating to help Chef José Andrés and his team deliver meals to displaced refugees in Poland and Romania.

Throughout the entire month of March, Saint Jane will be donating 100-percend of proceeds from its most recent launch, Sacred Sleep Overnight Repair ($70), to UNHCR.

The Tokyo-based beauty brand has donated one million euros to UNHCR and plans to match employee donations.

Another luxury beauty retailer showing its support for Ukraine, Net-a-Porter has donated to Médecins Sans Frontières, which provides emergency response, basic aid items and medical supplies to those in need. The company has also suspended commercial activity in Russia.

In addition to a $100,000 donation for emergency relief, Body Shop is also supplying its products, other goods and clothes to those in need. Additionally, the brand has decided to pause delivering its products to Russia.

Drugstore makeup company e.l.f. Has donated to UNICEF and has pledged to match employee donations to other organizations dedicated to relief efforts. The company’s CEO, Tarang Amin, and his wife, Hirni, also personally matched the corporate donation and will be matching employee donations as well.

Nordic beauty brand Skandinavisk donated 2-percent of its February income (about half of its profits) and is now donating 100-percent of the profits of blue ØY fragrance and yellow LYKKE fragrance.
